Kristine's Cancer Story
Kristine was diagnosed with stage IV leiomyosarcoma on 3/13/07.
The disease is a type of cancer that affects the body's soft tissue.
Since her first diagnosis Kristine endured: 7 rounds of intense chemotherapy, one of which caused severe hallucinations; Heart and vascular surgery to remove several tumors from her Superior Vena Cava and the veins behind her right clavicle; 37 rounds of radiation to her back; Metastatic tumor in her lung and brain; Brain surgery to remove a large tumor from her right frontal lobe; Paralysis on the left side of her body as a result of a blood vessel rupture that was caused by the brain tumor; GammaKnife radiation to a second smaller tumor in her brain; several treatments of CyberKnife radiation on her shoulder; myriad metastatic tumors throughout her abdomen and organs.

Kristine died on 12/25/09 from complications from the disease. May her body rest in peace, her memory live on in her many friends and family, and her soul shine from above like a bright star in the sky.

Ryan, thank you so much for doing the blog - especially today - when we are all waiting to hear some GOOD NEWS... I'm sure you are all exhausted, please know that Prayers are with you all. Wish we could be there to share the wait with you. I am praying for God to give you all stregnth, faith and hope for the future. May he be guiding the surgeons hands.
